In a related story Mr. Wilder decries “baiting lawmakers” saying, “everybody knows they’s dumber’n fish.” (FAUX news.)
In a story which is related to the one below, Lt. Gov. Wilder stated it was “…wrong’ for undercover agents to bait lawmakers with money.” (Chattanooga Times, 5/28/05, pg. A8.)
“Look, them legislators is dummer’n fish. They ain’t no way they know its wrong to accept money for making laws. Alls they know is them people who gave ‘em the money got ‘em where they is. They think they gotta keep taken the money. They jus don’t know any better. An I say its wrong tuh offer ‘em a bribe and think they won’t take it.”
Further sources indicate that Mr. Wilder then screamed ‘states rights!’ and ‘secession now!’ But as these quotes could not be confirmed, I have no choice but to leave them out.
